Q: What determines
the price of a band?
A: We
strive to maintain price consistency, however, there are real considerations.
Ultimately, pricing is case by case, and a function of variables
including but not limited to band popularity, type of function,
time of year, time of day, type of engagement, location of the event
(travel), production requirements, attendance, type of event and
promotional value. Prices are only given by Dean Zelikovsky,
the bands' exclusive agent. Due to band agreements, PRICE QUOTES
ARE NOT GIVEN BY EMAIL.
Q: What do
I need to do to secure a band booking?
A: In
order to officially secure a date, a signed contract is required
via fax or US mail + a (15% - 50%, depending on the band) non-refundable
security deposit. Once an agent receives verbal confirmation from
the buyer, a contract is issued immediately, and a 24-hour tentative
hold is placed on the date. The buyer then has 24 hours to return
the signed contract to our office via fax. If there are multiple
bids on the date, and contract is not returned within the 24-hour
deadline, the date may be immediately released and open for bidding.
Deposits are due immediately, no later than 5 business days from
the date and time of contract. Once a band is officially confirmed
(ME has received signed contract and deposit), the date is secure.
After officially securing the band, we will "pass" on all other
shows offered to the band during that time on the scheduled date.
In order to
receive a contract, the following information is required:
- purchaser
name
- date of event
- venue address
- venue contact
person (and phone)
- performance
time.
Q: What is
a Contract Rider? How do I know if my venue can accommodate the
bands requirements on the Contract Rider?
A: The
contract rider is an addendum that states the performance, production,
and hospitality related requirements particular to the band that
you have hired. MOST ITEMS ARE HIGHLY NEGOTIABLE based on client
and venue constraints, limitations and restrictions. It is recommended
that your venue representative or event planner contact our office
directly to determine which aspects of the contract rider will and
will not apply to your particular event/venue. Remember, this is
Set
Up Time: In order to ensure adequate production functionality
(when applicable) it is important that the band have enough
time to load in, set up and sound check prior to guest arrival.
As a general rule of thumb, please allow no less than 3 hours
for band load in, set up and sound. During this time it is required
that the band have a clear and reasonable path to the stage,
and that the staging and power be ready and accessible prior
to their arrival.
Power: Generally speaking, 4 - 20 amp circuits will accommodate
most band sound and lighting systems. If the event requires
a larger sound system, 100 - 200 amp (single or three phase)
may be required. Access to power should be provided at or near
the stage area.
Stage/Stage Area: A dry, sturdy and covered stage/area
is highly recommended. Actual risers (staging) may not be required
depending upon a) the size of the band, b) size of the venue
and c) the expected attendance of your event. If the reception
is outdoors, it is required that purchaser provide cover for
the stage and band equipment. As a rule of thumb, a 16 X 24
space or stage for the band provides functionality. We can,
however, work within the physical constraints given in almost
any venue.
Dressing Room: The band request a dressing room or break
area to costume, break and secure personal belongings. Exceptions
are made based on a) length of the event b) type of event and
c) the capacity of the venue to provide such an area.
Hospitality: All bands request hospitality to include
a combination of provisions including but not limited to bottled
water, soft drinks, deli tray, chips, etc. The band members
need their carbos and fluids to put on the best performance
they can! Remember, these are band requests and not demands.
As with most provisions on the contract rider, hospitality provisions
are subject to negotiation. |
Q: What if
someone has a hold on the date of my function?
A: If
someone has placed a hold on the band on the date that you are interested
in securing, you may "challenge" the date. You would be required
to provide a deposit immediately upon winning the challenge. The
holding party is immediately contacted and given 24 hours to sign
and return contract for the date. If the party does not return contract
within 24 hours, the date is released and open for bidding. When
your deposit is received and the contract signed and sent back to
us, the date has been secured.
Q: How long
will the band perform?
A: Generally
speaking (depending on band), standard performance time is 3 - 4
hours based on 45 - 50 minute sets, with 15 - 20 minute breaks.
Typically a rate may be negotiated for additional performance time.
Q: Can I
change my contract performance time?
A: Yes.
To insure that the band members are notified with sufficient time,
we request that written notice be given no later than two weeks
prior to engagement. You may submit your change request either via
fax (206 448 7223) or email. Then, please call to confirm that we
have received your new times.
Q: Will the
band MC or make announcements at the event?
A: Yes.
The band is happy to accommodate your needs. Just fax or email us
the info preferably with a two weeks notice and we will work with
you in this regard. Please call to confirm our receipt.
Q: Can I
make song requests?
A: Yes.
Upon contracting the band, you may request an official song list
(usually on the bands' websites). This list will include the songs
that are currently in the band's repertoire. However, if the requested
song does not appear on this song list, it is ultimately up to the
discretion of the band to accommodate the request. You may also
submit your request online or via fax (206 448 7223). To insure
greater chances of having the band perform your song, please give
as much notice to us as possible so that the band may have time
to learn the song. Song requests must be received no later than
2 weeks prior to the date of engagement. Remember, you can always
provide a CD containing the song which we can play on our sound
system for your "first dance," when applicable (weddings/private
parties).
Q: What if
I need to change my venue and/or performance time?
A: If
you would like to change the venue or performance time in your contract,
you must submit a change request to our office either online or
via fax (206 448 7223). Please, call to confirm our receipt.
Q: Can the
band cancel?
A: In
our 12 years of providing entertainment for thousands of shows,
we have never canceled a performance date secured by contract and
deposit.
Q: Does the
band have flexibility? Can you work with our specific requests?
A: Remember,
we are here to make your experience with our highly professional
bands a memorable one. We want you to be happy and we are here
to accommodate your needs. We are happy to work with whatever
constraints humanly possible, to make your event the best possible
one it can be!
